Our History

When EBSCO Industries (EBSCO) acquired Valent Group in 2001 (formerly named S.S. Nesbitt), the organization began to make significant strides in its growth as a Southeastern regional risk consulting firm.

From 2006 to 2009, Valent Group successfully acquired LoMoJo Corp. (LMJ), Alabama National Bank Insurance Services (ANB) and Independent Insurance Agents, which added product lines and personnel resources and positioned Valent Group for future growth.

Then with the additional acquisitions of Strategic Employee Benefit Services of Alabama, International Assurance and Fountain Parker Harbarger Benefits between 2013 and 2014, the firm expanded its footprint across the state into Huntsville and Mobile and solidified its position as a leader in the region.

Valent Group is dedicated now more than ever to providing risk consulting for businesses, employee benefits and individuals. Mid-size companies that partner with Valent Group can expect a Fortune 1000 experience typically reserved for only their largest competitors.

To that end, the firm has elevated its Business Insurance group, bringing in exceptional Property & Casualty leadership talent with multi-national experience. The firm's Employee Benefits group has expanded in several key regions and its Personal Insurance team has continued to provide exceptional service.
