Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is a key contributor in a fast‑paced, growing organization. This role is responsible for completing daily accounting tasks requiring a basic level of accounting knowledge across a variety of responsibilities. This role will work closely with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, providing hands-on support to ensure timely and accurate billing, collections, vendor payments, and reconciliations. The Staff Accountant is responsible for (but not limited to) monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, g/l variance analysis, and development of weekly and monthly financial reports.
This role is hands‑on and well‑suited for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a small to mid‑sized business environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Execute accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with budget preparation and monthly departmental reporting.
- Reconcile daily cash activity, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances promptly.
- Process and research into customer rebates and deductions, escalate when necessary.
- Support external audits and provide requested schedules and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies in a growing environment.
- Perform special projects and other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a small to mid‑sized company
- Experience in wholesale, retail, distribution, or inventory‑driven environments strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Experience with month‑end close and account reconciliations
- ERP system experience required (NetSuite or similar preferred)
- Intermediate Excel skills required (pivot tables, lookups)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, but not required
