Agile Product Owner 


Behind all the content users see on EBSCO’s Research Database and Discovery Service products are the content processing pipelines that keep our products current and accurate. As an Agile Product Owner (APO), you will work with an Agile Development Team to build features and applications for EBSCO content processing pipelines and associated tools and components. This role is highly collaborative and cross-functional. You will work with Product Management, Technology, Operations, Content Management, and Infrastructure, applying a blend of business and technical savvy to make the team vision a reality.
 

As a member of the Platform Product Management team, you will take an active role in amplifying the voice of internal customers, external end-users, and the product line strategy to your Agile development team. You will participate in user accepting testing, data-driven product quality analysis, and help monitor key technology trends to ensure positive outcomes for the evolution of the EBSCO Research Database and EBSCO Discovery Service experience.

 

What you’ll do
 

  • Work with an Agile Development Team to deliver great products and services for our customers, both internal and external
  • Know your product details and contribute to corresponding product roadmaps and strategy
  • Work with Product Managers on the definition of product features and functionality
  • Measure team progress and drive fact-based decisions
  • Maintain an actionable, prioritized team backlog of problems to solve
  • Lead your Agile Development Team as part of a leadership group that includes a Scrum Master and Agile Development Manager
  • Support internal customers using your product and components as part of their operations
  • Express requirements in well written stories which have clear acceptance criteria and start with the “what” and the “why”
  • Ensure high quality software and product releases to our customers
  • Proactively communicate progress, decisions, impediments, and risks to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Promote team workflows that lead to continuous improvement
  • Contribute to a highly collaborative, inclusive, and empowered team culture

Skills or experience you need
 

  • At least two years working as a Business or Content Analyst or in Product Management (preferably as a Product Owner), or one year as a member of an Agile Development Team
  • Two or more years of experience working within a Lean-Agile software product development method, such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe
  • At least two years of defining and documenting product requirements into small, well-articulated, and valuable deliverables

  • You have used a variety of business analysis tools and techniques to aid in the breaking down of work, eliciting requirements, and making clear decisions
  • Can derive actionable insights from customer data and operational metrics
  • A proven track record of developing and managing world-class consumer-facing software 
  • Comfortable presenting to diverse groups and demoing working software
  • Strong facilitation skills and emotional intelligence
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment across multiple functional teams and org units
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Leadership and coaching skills. Ability to successfully improve team performance through exemplary conduct, emotional intelligence, and non-intrusive teaching (servant leadership)
  • Experience with cloud computing and cloud migration projects
  • Experience working with big data, workflow automation software, and/or data ingestion pipelines
  • Comfortable challenging requirements and assumptions with data to ensure we are delivering what is best for the customer
