Under direct supervision, performs routine warehouse activities, including storing and distributing raw materials and finished goods, conducting inventories, maintaining records and preparing requested materials for distribution. Other activities may include loading and routing trucks. Years of Experience: 0-1 year

Essential Job Functions

  • Safely and skillfully operate a variety of lift trucks. To include, but not limited to: motorized pallet jack, counterbalance lift, extended reach lift, order selector, and scissor lift.
  • Become knowledgeable of and routinely practice OSHA safety regulations concerning warehousing and dock operations.
  • Perform all steps of put away including part number and quantity verification, proper slot selection in multilevel storage racks of varying sizes and depths, proper pallet placement, and electronic transfer using bar code scanning equipment.
  • Learn to read and understand the details of sales orders and picklists to include: part number, quantity, labeling requirements, ship via, etc.
  • Select and securely palletize orders of mixed units of various sizes and characteristics in a manner such that product will withstand the shipping process and arrive intact and undamaged.
  • Learn and follow all requirements for custom labeling placement pursuant to different customer accounts.
  • Pre-stage orders in areas designated by product and shipping mode.

Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 months’ work history at Vulcan Industries.
  • At least 6 months of work history driving a forklift.
  • Must have basic mathematic skills and be able to add, subtract, multiply & divide.
  • Ability to read and compare similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Ability to write simple sentences, series of numbers, names, and addresses.
  • Must speak, read, & write fluent English.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Other Skills

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate various machines, such as: calculator, calipers, measuring tapes, scales, computer.
  • Must be able to obtain a Forklift Certification.

           

Load and unload pick-up trucks, vans, and trailers.
Properly perform mandatory regular cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
