The Junior Web Developer/Designer role is a contributing member of the ecommerce and web development team within the IT department responsible for supporting existing suite of ecommerce websites under the Luxor brands to help us grow, expand and enhance our ecommerce presence and strategic initiatives. This position is responsible for assisting in developing engaging, responsive design for our websites, working with other developers to support business operations, and collaborating with IT and business and marketing teams.  A successful candidate must be a team player and a quick learner and demonstrate initiative and critical thinking to solve business problems and initiate continuous improvements.  Understanding of various web standards and technologies, UX/UI responsive design, A/B testing, search engine optimization and adherence to SDLC methodologies is key to meeting the expectations of this role.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design and development of customer-facing mobile and desktop e-commerce sites and applications using HTML5, CSS, Python, React, JavaScript, PHP and/or other related web design and development technologies
  • Conduct A/B testing and tests on user interface elements and provide consultative input and recommendations to the business in areas of design and improving the customer experience
  • Follow design guidelines, standards, and best practices and maintain the appearance of websites by enforcing content standards
  • Design visual imagery for websites and ensure deliverables are in line with branding
  • Optimize sites for maximum speed and scalability and mobile responsiveness
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure web and application logic is properly integrated with front end design
  • Provide internal support and external customer service throughout the build and launch process of the website


  • Participate in requirements analysis, testing, documentation, application and data support for ecommerce sites
  • Proactively identify continuous improvements related to user experience, site performance, SEO, and other best practices
  • Partner with IT team to continually refine and document front and back-end development processes and integration


  • Entry level understanding in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools
  • Entry level skills in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML5, CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript
  • Understanding of content management systems, search engine optimization principles, cross-browser compatibility issues and web protocols, standards, and technologies
  • Experience with ecommerce and digital marketing concepts (CRM, analytics, campaigns, SEO, optimizing content, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of data driven systems, data mapping and exception handling
  • Knowledge of various architectures and protocols: TCP/IP, FTP, XML, JSON, API, REST, SOAP, Firewalls, Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems

  • Work History Requirements:
    • Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience with eCommerce web design
  • Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Website Design, Graphic Design or equivalent work experience (minimum 3 years) in directly related roles


Computer equipment and level of software requirements:


  • Entry level HTML5, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, responsive design
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • General understanding of web design technologies and challenges faced by eCommerce storefronts from customer experience
  • Understand and use common code/application change control platforms and ticket systems
  • Ecommerce platform experience a plus
  • Python or Java development experience a plus



Specific Knowledge, licenses, certifications REQUIRED:


  • Certification in any ecommerce or design technologies is a plus.
