GENERAL PURPOSE:

Luxor Workspaces is a leading manufacturer of innovative workspace solutions, ranging from office products, furniture, equipment and accessories for office, education, industrial, foodservice and hospitality, and healthcare settings.  Luxor goes to market through numerous brands including sales to resellers as Luxor, as well as direct sales through brands including Stand Up Desk Store, Stand Steady, and Kwikboost.  We pride ourselves in having an innovative and forward-thinking culture that our employees love, and our products reflect this. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the President in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and talent development
  • Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the President. Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
  • Directly oversee Operations functions, including Warehouse, Logistics, IT, Sourcing, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality and Continuous Improvement teams 
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met. Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention
  • Lead Continuous Improvement across the organization, analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement
  • Aggressively manage inventory, capital investments and expenses to ensure the company achieves short and long term targets relative to growth and profitability. Partner with the President and brand leaders on sales to identify and implement sufficient capital projects to achieve growth targets
  • Monitor operations performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, providing KPI reports, both current and forecasting
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary

 

Strategy, Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Act as Chief Operating Officer and strategic business partner to the Leadership Team
  • Assess and evaluate operational performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization
  • Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within the different departments and divisions

 

 

  • Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical operational process improvements and information
  • Evaluate all departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Create and establish yearly operational objectives with measurable KPI’s that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Serve as a key member of the Luxor Leadership Team, participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Interact with and bring all departments into line with Luxor plans, initiatives and recommendations.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team and/or Luxor/EBSCO.
  • Develop strategy for and lead formal Continuous Improvement initiatives across the organization, including LIT Program
  • Assist with leading acquisition related projects from an operational perspective, including target review, due diligence, and integration of acquired entities
  • Engage and interact with EBSCO Industries (parent company) teams

 

Talent Management

  • Attract, hire and develop A-player talent, and manage the Operations team.
  • Mentor and develop the team managing work allocation, systems training, performance

evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.

  • Provide active management, prioritization, and technical strategy/guidance to the teams.
  • Coach and mentors direct and indirect reports on best practices in order to provide high quality and timely services to both internal and external customers
  • Provide direct reports with appropriate training, coaching, and motivation that enable their success and establish a positive working environment
  • Establish/manage the new hire training program for all staff roles, including an evaluation method to ensure knowledge transfer is achieved through the training program
  • Oversee responsiveness of the team to inquiries and requests, and hold staff accountable for meeting service level expectations
  • Conduct employee performance reviews mid-year and annually to evaluate performance, provide feedback, and that high performers are challenged with additional responsibility
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of the team in the areas of productivity, quality of work, customer satisfaction, and technical expertise by providing individual coaching feedback sessions that focus on improving performance, communication skills and technical abilities

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors Degree, MBA strongly preferred
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of advanced warehouse management, light manufacturing (kitting, assembly, etc.), supply chain, freight/shipping, importing and logistics
  • 6-8 years minimum experience as the COO, VP of Operations, or highest level operational leader in a medium to large ($250 million+ revenue) corporation
  • Management of Directors, Managers and Staff including leading teams of direct and indirect reports of at least 50 people or more
  • Minimum 12-14 years total work experience

 

  • Continuous Improvement/Lean certifications and experience leading initiatives
  • Experience managing and/or collaborating closely with IT to manage, improve and replace ERP systems. Large ERP system experience required - SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics or other larger enterprise packages
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – proven ability to motivate staff and lead teams
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience working with external suppliers, service providers, customers

 

Computer equipment and level of software requirements:

  • Intermediate Level of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP systems, with SAP preferred
  • Hands on experience with analytics and BI packages to create reports and views

 

Specific Knowledge, licenses, certifications REQUIRED:

  • Lean/Continuous Improvement training/certifications

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages direct reports including directors, managers, supervisors and individual contributors
