EBSCO’s Corp IT team has a new opening for a Desktop Engineer here at our Birmingham, AL HQ campus .Desktop Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying technologies used by the support team and by our customers. The Desktop Engineer will also research products and patches used in the computing environment while working with the Help Desk Manager to improve existing products and services.



Primary Responsibilities

Administer System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

Manage, administer and support Netwrix.

Administer and support SCCM and other selected systems and applications used by Help Desk to support our end user   community.

Will be primary point of contact for password reset related issues within the Help Desk group.

Support Help Desk team members through example, direction and technical training.

Collaborate in the Desktop Engineering team so support the Help Desk

Manager to set priorities, goals and vision for systems used within Help Desk.

Works within the Desktop Engineering team to document operational

procedures, and written documentation for everyday support tasks relating to the systems used in Help Desk.

Serve as an escalation point for Help Desk tickets within group.

Maintain and enforce corporate policies.

Be a resource for CorpIT team members regarding technical questions and  relevant training.


Job Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with laptop and desktop hardware and software, including Apple Mac and Windows based systems.  Experience should include desktop, laptop, server, and peripheral hardware.  Desktop software, various PC operating systems, 3rd party software, email, and web technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.


Preferred Skills

  • 1+ years of experience with an enterprise desktop management platform (SCCM, Altiris, LanDesk, etc.) for management and creation of PC hardware.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and rapport.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Advanced knowledge of Android, iOS and Windows Mobile Operating Systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Print Server Management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
