Job Summary

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer position will support the development of innovative, high quality, marketable products for assigned product lines in the Business Unit while working closely with the Product Managers, Program Managers, Operations, and Marketing. This position is responsible for designing products to meet consumer requirements that are capable of efficient production and are cost effective. The position is expected to work collaboratively with Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Sales to meet customer needs and support the strategic goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop new technologies and products that push the market segment forward and garner consumer interest while maintaining the quality of the brand.
  • Enhance existing technologies and products to meet product performance expectations, marketing, and sales requirements, and deliver the financial goals of POB.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Sales, and Brand project teams and be mindful of release timelines for new products and development.
  • Create and execute designs for existing product changes and all new product development.
  • Generate, update, and communicate product specification documents defining product design and manufacturing.  Submit engineering changes to manufacturing in a timely manner.
  • Define factory specifications and key measures. Work with sourcing team and manufacturing to ensure quality and durability of products.
  • Maintain appropriate engineering procedures throughout the product development process to achieve engineering deliverables which include cost, reliability, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Work within the discipline of the new product development process to ensure only products that meet requirements and are approved are developed.
  • Develop and execute test protocols based on real world product use to ensure function and durability of products.
  • Support launch activities in manufacturing facilities and assembly plants.
  • Carry out other duties, responsibilities, and projects as may be assigned, in an effective manner.
  • Take industrial design surfaces and break them up into plastic injection molded parts. 
  • Mold analysis.
  • Testing procedures, FAI’s (first article inspections), stack up tolerance, and critical dimension definitions.
  • Own the mechanical design from start to finish. Be the source of mechanical development.
  • Drive the ODM/JDM to produce the results required.

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical) from an accredited college/university. 
  • 5+ years of experience as a product development mechanical engineer.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to form creative solutions to problems.
  • Proven organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft tools for data analysis, project tracking and presentations.
  • Experience in 3D CAD usage/management and design software (Creo/Solidworks).
