Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and driven GIS Developer II to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced geospatial solutions. In this role, you will work across the full development lifecycle to build robust GIS applications and systems using cloud platforms, modern development frameworks, and spatial data tools. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance routing optimization, spatial analysis, and business decision-making. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of GIS development experience and a strong foundation in Python, cloud environments, and spatial visualization tools.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply geospatial programming, statistical modeling, and analytical tools to identify trends and drive business insights.
  • Collaborate with Lead Developers, Senior Developers, and GIS Analysts to develop automated GIS processes for routing and territory optimization.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, and execution of geospatial software projects, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, mobile GIS tools, and event-driven architecture for real-time spatial data processing.
  • Utilize cloud-based tools such as Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and development cycles.
  • Deliver secure, testable, and reliable code using Microsoft development frameworks and modern object-oriented programming principles.
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshoot complex GIS development issues.
  • Guide stakeholders in interpreting GIS outputs and integrating them into business workflows.
  • Assist in defining project scopes and technology requirements based on business needs and innovation opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Information Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a GIS Developer.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in:
    • Mapbox or equivalent GIS tools
    • Python programming
    • Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Strong background in:
    • Azure DevOps
    • Event/message-based architecture
    • Mobile or RESTful API development
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Unit testing and Agile/Scrum practices
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following technologies:
    • TileStache – Map tile caching
    • Pg2b3dm – 3D tile generation
    • Mapnik – Spatial data visualization
    • Fiona – GIS format streaming
    • Libpysal – Spatial analysis
    • Shapely – Geometric manipulation
    • GDAL – Geospatial data translation
    • Tippecanoe – Vector tileset building

Essential Job Function

  • Experience with .NET framework
  • Feature Manipulation Engine (FME)
