Job Summary

Vulcan Industries currently has an opening for a Laser/Punch Programmer on 2nd shift.  The Laser/Punch Programmer writes operating programs for Trumpf Punch, Trumpf fiber laser cutting equipment, and BLM tube laser utilizing Pro-E and Trumpf/BLM software. The programmer assigns laser paths and tooling hits to enable software to convert to numeric codes that are downloaded into the specific equipment.  Programs are created based on customer demand as dictated by the supervisor.  Programmers are also responsible for issuing material to the work orders to control inventory of materials. 

The successful candidate must be able to do in-house train on dayshift for an undefined period of time and be able to travel for specific software training as needed. 

Job Responsibilities

Gain Extensive Knowledge of equipment programmed.

Program equipment using PC and software.

Train operators and lead persons. 

Maintain appropriate records. 

Report for work regularly and on time. 

Material Handling 

Able to read, understand and follow instructions from Operator’s Manuals

Cross-train operating equipment as dictated by the supervisor. 

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications 

Knowledge of shop math, practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry.

 Ability to read instructions in use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment as well as methods and  procedures in mechanical drawings and layout work. 

Ability to prepare records using series of names, numbers, and simple sentences. 

Must be able to communicate clearly. 

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.) 

Other Skills 

 

Ability to operate or learn to operate various machines, such as: plant equipment and machinery, scales, tape measure, control gauges, computer keyboard, etc.
