Job Summary
We’re seeking a Senior Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join our growing team. You will act as a Team Lead, responsible for performing preventative / corrective maintenance on our solar operations and for training other team members. We’re looking for a player and a coach - someone who can do the work alongside the team, especially for advanced troubleshooting, while also refining process documentation and developing training modules.
You should be able to explain the big picture of the O&M functionality as it relates to the solar industry - what we’re doing and why it matters. You must have strong capabilities to analyze PV performance and troubleshoot potential issues remotely. The ideal candidate will also assist in implementation of a new data management system to automate priorities. This role reports to the O&M Manager.
Job Responsibilities

Prioritize O&M activities so that all projects maintain a minimum uptime of 95%

Identify, record and correct issues and deficiencies with extreme precision and detail

Work autonomously to successfully record work activities using the required applications and systems such as Solargrade/Sitecapture

Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of Cherry Street Energy operations and maintenance systems

Create new scalable systems and procedures with an entrepreneurial mindset

Effectively work cross-departmentally to ensure collaboration and operational excellence

Travel primarily limited to within the state of Georgia, some travel outside of the state may be required in the future
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of field-based experience with PV systems, including at least 1 year in a lead role performing commissioning, troubleshooting, and/or operations & maintenance.
- Experience developing clear instructional documentation for field and software-based processes.
- Proficient in use and maintenance of electrical and mechanical testing equipment, including torque tools, multimeters, insulation resistance testers, I-V curve tracers, thermal cameras, low-resistance ohmmeters, and ground testers.
- Familiarity with industry-standard PV monitoring platforms (e.g., AlsoEnergy, Locus, SMA Sunny Portal, SolarEdge, Enphase) for commissioning, diagnostics, and performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of distributed generation PV systems, including common failure modes and underperformance diagnostics.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC 2014–2023) and NFPA 70B (2023) as applied to PV systems.
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional and/or Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist certification preferred; OSHA-10 preferred.
- Proficient with digital project management and documentation tools (e.g., Procore, Solargrade, Smartsheet, Google Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel) and able to quickly learn new platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel throughout Georgia and the Southeast 3–4 days per week and work remaining days in-office at the West Midtown Atlanta headquarters.
