Job Summary

The Design/Operations Intern will support Cherry Street Energy’s design, engineering, and project development teams by assisting with the design and evaluation of commercial and community solar projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to the technical aspects of solar project development, from early-stage feasibility through construction-ready design.

This position is based in Atlanta, GA, with an in-person schedule, and will report to a member of the Engineering team. This is a paid internship and an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in a career in commercial solar design, engineering, or project development.

Job Responsibilities

Assist with preliminary and detailed solar system layouts for commercial and community solar projects
Support shading, production, and site constraint analysis
Review site plans, aerial imagery, and survey data to identify design considerations
Assist with design revisions based on engineering, permitting, or constructability feedback
Support preparation and organization of design documentation and plan sets
Coordinate with project development and project management teams to support active projects
Particpate in site visits and assist with field reports when applicable
Maintain organized design files and project documentation

Job Requirements

Interested in a career path in solar energy, design, engineering, or clean energy development
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Comfortable working with technical information and learning new software tools
Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in engineering, energy systems, sustainability, architecture, construction management, or a related field

Experience with solar design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD) is a plus but not required.
