Job Summary

Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. May prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Uses MIG/TIG/Robotic welding techniques to join base plates, cross tubes, port blocks and rod ends to cylinder tubes and rods Welds attachments and components parts to cylinders as specified by drawings
  • Understands and interprets mechanical drawings and weld symbols
  • Interprets instructions and responds to management’s direction
  • Selects proper weld settings on equipment
  • Uses standard manual quality control equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is conducted as necessary
  • Maintains equipment daily
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Follows safety and security policies and procedures and reports any unsafe conditions
  • Maintains a clean work environment
  • Adheres to Five “S” standards and procedures

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and at least one year of MIG welding experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred

Experience in a production environment
