Job Summary

The Student Warehouse Worker supports day-to-day warehouse operations including inventory handling, order fulfillment, and general warehouse upkeep.  This role is ideal for high-school or college students seeking flexible hours and hands-on work experience.  This position is located at our Publishers' Warehouse location in Alabaster.  The position involves physical activity, including lifting materials up to 40lbs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company health and safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, sorting, and distributing inventory.
  • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment or distribution.
  • Perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) accurately.
  • Assist team members with various warehouse activities as needed.
  • Perform data entry and use basic computer applications for inventory tasks.
  • Complete other duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old or older.
  • The ability to manually handle up to 40 pounds, required.
  • Some data entry and computer skills.
  • Good communication, organizational, time management and mathematical skills.

Essential Job Function

  • The ability to perform work while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • The ability to work around moving machinery as well as exposure to marked changes in temperature, humidity.
  • The willingness to use appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Be dependable, reliable, and have the ability to receive and follow instructions.
