Alys Beach is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant.  The Cost Accountant performs professional level accounting work with responsibility for general ledger, job cost and accounts payable accounting.  Additional task will inculde performing monthly closing, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc.  This position will assist with additional ah-hoc projects and general accounting tasks as needed.  Must have the ability to work independently, and with a team, in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. 

 

Job Responsibilities

     Performing monthly closing, journal entries and reconciliations, using SAGE 300CRE and SAP

     Monthly review of job cost activity ensuring consistent and proper coding

     Prepare and post biweekly payroll and monthly salary to job cost

     Assist in the preparation of company financial reporting requirements

     Review job cost activity/reports with managers on a regular basis

     Learn to handle and process all aspects of construction payables, including coding, processing contracts, sub-contracts, purchase orders and maintenance of job cost chart of accounts

     Assist in any additional projects and general accounting task as needed 

    

Job Requirements

    Candidate must have an Accounting or Business Degree

    Prefer at least 3 years accounting experience, including job costing

    Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications

    Experience working with SAGE 300CRE and SAP, in the construction industry   

    Verifiable experience in analyzing data and communicating results in an organized fashion

 

Essential Job Functions

     Thorough understanding of general ledger accounting systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate accounting processes

     Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers and customers

     Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

     Ability to multi-task and work in a group environment

     Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision
