GENERAL PURPOSE:

Luxor Workspaces is a leading manufacturer of innovative workspace solutions, ranging from office products, furniture, equipment and accessories for office, education, industrial, foodservice and hospitality, and healthcare settings.  Luxor goes to market through numerous brands including sales to resellers as Luxor, as well as direct sales through brands including Stand Up Desk Store, Stand Steady, and Kwikboost.  We pride ourselves in having an innovative and forward-thinking culture that our employees love, and our products reflect this. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:

 

Strategy, Planning and Management

  • Act as Chief Financial Officer and strategic business partner to the leadership team.
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
  • Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.
  • Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with EBSCO Industries (parent company) Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Capital and other teams.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Support and engage with auditors and legal.
  • Serve as a key member of the Luxor Leadership Team.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Interact with and bring all departments into line with Luxor plans, initiatives and recommendations.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team and/or Luxor/EBSCO.
  • Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within the different departments and divisions.

 

Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division/profit center, forecast vs. budget and weekly cash flow by division.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations to Profit Center and Operations leaders.
  • Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings.
  • Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.
  • Manage financial planning and analysis team. Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.

 

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems and financial software. Provide regular oversight of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data to EBSCO.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies and streamlining close processes.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and variance commentary.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and required reconciliations.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Coordinate and strategize methods used to attain team goals with EBSCO Accounting staff and Group Controllers.

 

Financial Management

  • Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs, oversee vendor setup and manage fraud risk.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process. Ensure that accounts receivable balances and aging remain within stated goals and minimize bad debt write offs.
  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
  • Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.
  • Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
  • Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.

 

Talent Management - Finance and Accounting Team

  • Attract, hire and develop A-player talent, and manage the accounting team.
  • Mentor and develop the team managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
  • Provide active management, prioritization, and technical strategy/guidance to the Accounting team.
  • Coach and mentors direct and indirect reports on best practices in order to provide high quality and timely services to both internal and external customers
  • Provide direct reports with appropriate training, coaching, and motivation that enable their success and establish a positive working environment
  • Establish/manage the new hire training program for all staff roles, including an evaluation method to ensure knowledge transfer is achieved through the training program
  • Oversee responsiveness of the team to inquiries and requests, and hold staff accountable for meeting service level expectations
  • Conduct employee performance reviews mid-year and annually to evaluate performance, provide feedback, and that high performers are challenged with additional responsibility
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of the team in the areas of productivity, quality of work, customer satisfaction, and technical expertise by providing individual coaching feedback sessions that focus on improving performance, communication skills and technical abilities

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA strongly preferred
  • CPA required, outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, PCI and other compliance/regulatory
  • Background with Public Accounting work (audit) strongly preferred
  • 5 years minimum experience as a CFO in a medium to large ($200 million+) corporation.
  • 15+ years total accounting or finance experience
  • Experience collaborating closely with IT to manage, improve and replace ERP systems.  
  • Large ERP system experience required, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics or other larger packages
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – proven ability to motivate staff and lead teams
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.

Specific Knowledge, licenses, certifications REQUIRED:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Manages direct reports including managers, supervisors and individual contributors

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Usual office working conditions, occasional business travel to attend conferences, meetings, events or training (5% or less annually).
