The EIS Business Analytics Team is looking for a new Data Analyst! The data team thrives on partnership within the EIS organization and is responsible for creating robust, actionable reporting and business analytics to drive overall strategy of the Subscription Services Division of EBSCO Information Services. 

 

About the role 

 

The Data Analyst will join a team of data and reporting professionals who provide ongoing data and analytical support to numerous teams throughout the organization. The Data Analyst will manage cross-functional projects, requiring substantial business acumen, operational rigor, professionalism, strategic thinking and problem solving skills, as well as extreme proficiency in data analytics.

 

The candidate should enjoy working in a collaborative environment where they can drive decisions with data. The candidate will be responsible for promoting data integrity throughout the organization, as well as supporting business leaders in strategic initiatives. 

The candidate should be naturally data curious, experienced in improving the accuracy, availability and usability of data, and excited about creating sustainable reporting. Ideal candidates enjoy problem-solving, building solutions, delivering actionable and data-driven insights, and working in a dynamic environment. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform data analysis and validation for creation, and ongoing curation, of recurring business and operational reports, dashboards, and valuable business insights, including curation and analysis of KPIs, for recurring operations and ad hoc strategy/operations projects 
  • Synthesize multiple data sets and analyses to make strategic recommendations to the business 
  • Identify ways to utilize and organize operational, financial and customer data to guide big strategic decisions 
  • Partner with various teams to define data metrics and develop a deep understanding of interdependencies between cross-functional systems, datasets, and processes 
  • Partner with business owners to articulate process and data requirements in order to facilitate the development and implementation of data and operational strategy 
  • Support the business in pairing metrics with business and process knowledge to improve management visibility, identify opportunities for business optimization, and streamline operations 
  • Partner with financial planning & analysis teams to track and report financial performance 
  • Create scale-able self-service data and analytical models to be used by operations, sales, marketing, and executive partners in analyzing both the current state of the business and forward-looking options 
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects, develop quantitative models for evaluating proposed corporate opportunities, map process workflows, deliver polished presentations 
  • Present data with clarity and concision to stakeholders having varying degrees of data fluency 

 

Required Skills :

  • 1+ years of business analysis experience, with experience building decision-making analyses and models
  • 1+ years SQL experience (query creation, editing, optimizing) 
  • 6+ months data visualization experience (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) 
  • Proficient in SQL/Python/R 
  • Advanced- to expert-level Microsoft Excel proficiency  

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with relational databases, collecting data, and performing complex analysis on large amounts of data. 
  • Experience summarizing financial data
  • Highly analytical, with experience enabling rapid and high-quality decision making in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, with the competence to educate and collaborate with non-technical to technical audiences 
  • Experience partnering with operations teams to translate raw data into business impact 
  • A collaborative working style with a strong focus on execution and results 
  • Experience creating analytical data sets and/or data warehouses that enable self-service access to KPIs and metrics 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize requests from partners and set realistic expectations
