EBSCO Clinical Decisions is building a Site Reliability Engineering Team (SRE). As a member of the SRE team, you will work on combining operational excellence with development experience to create a highly scalable and reliable environment. As a member of the SRE team, you will be responsible for building resiliency and reliability in our ecosystem. You will use your operational and development experience to improve the availability, performance, monitoring, and emergency response of Clinical Decision services. 

 

You will:

  • Help define and execute a comprehensive reliability and observability strategy, ensuring EBSCO's systems are always available.
  • Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipeline to build and deploy microservices efficiently and reliably.
  • Utilize technical, procedural, and financial data to reduce toil and increase efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot stack-wide engineering issues related to software, network, applications, and cloud service providers.
  • Coach peer SREs and development teams on how to build highly available systems.

 

Required Skill Set

  • Over 5 years of professional experience in software development or related field.
  • Proficient in one or more of these programming languages (Go, Python, Java, or Javascript).
  • Good understanding of AWS Fundamentals (certification preferred, any one of the devops, sysops, networking, or security).
  • Strong networking fundamentals (understanding of AWS VPC, Subnet, Routing, IP Tables, Transit Gateway, VPC Peering).
  • Good understanding of IAC (Infrastructure as code) and solid command on Terraform or Cloudformation.
  • Experience with Observability tools like Datadog, Kiali, Grifana, Prometheus.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Excellent understanding of reliability and quality.

 

Preferred Skill Set

  • Experience with setting up and administering Kubernetes. 
  • Experience with installing and managing service mesh like Istio or AWS App Mesh.
  • Good understanding of SLO, SLI, and SLA.
  • Prior experience on an SRE team.
  • Experience with Gitlab platform.
  • Experience with writing serverless functions to automate responses to alerts.

 

Target Annual Salary Range: $81,105-115,865.  The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
