The NoveList family is looking for a talented software engineer!

 

The mission of the Software Engineer is to play an integral role on an Agile team responsible for the architecture, design, development, testing, delivery, and operation of premium online Discovery and Research products. You will create information products and services that inform the world, advancing research in traditional and emerging fields and transforming learning and education.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Help power our products by developing state of the art APIs leveraging an API First development pattern.

Expand product offerings by developing cutting edge applications leveraging the AWS cloud platform.

Modernize existing applications by replatforming them to the cloud and refactoring them to take advantage of AWS native components.

Contribute to system architecture, design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operation of components for cloud-based products and services.

Provide operational support to components that your team owns.

Work directly with product management and your team to decompose complex software requirements into simple user stories leveraging Behavior Driven Design

Collaborate with your team to estimate the size and complexity of the features.  Perform the technical design, implementation, and testing of features and commit to stories to be accomplished in an iteration.

Own system and feature quality throughout the development, testing and deployment phases to ensure quality delivery expectations are met.

Drive value and build to continuously improve the quality of the team’s deliverables. Author well-engineered solutions using test-first/test-driven methodologies.

Conduct new technology research, proof of concept, and design work that will assist in determining direction for the enhancement of the overall system and products.

Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of your team.

Work alongside other software engineers to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices for design, coding standards, performance, security, delivery, and maintainability.

Live the principles behind the Agile Manifesto and SAFe framework in all interactions.

 

Requirements

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or other Technical related degree or equivalent experience.

2 years of .NET development (C#) and/or Javascript

2 years of experience in large systems software design and development with hands on experience in RESTful Web Services, HTML, XML/JSON, HTTP, SSL.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Advanced Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or other Technical or Library Science related degree.

2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

Proficiency with source code management tools such as git.

One or more JavaScript frameworks (React, AngularJS, Node.js) and JavaScript libraries

Test Driven Development (TDD) and Automated Testing with NUnit, LoadRunner, JMeter, etc.

Working on an Agile team.

DevOps or automated software deployment.

Web Services lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy), API versioning and design approaches, tools, inter-operability, and SOA concepts.

Microservices and microservice design patterns.

Developing automated integration, acceptance, and/or contract driven tests scenarios.

Target Annual Salary Range: $82,700 - 118,145. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
