About This Job:

As part of Cloud Enablement, you’ll be helping EBSCO Information Services accelerate into a cloud-first organization. You’ll be working across the enterprise to define solutions to help organizations move to and operate effectively at scale in the public cloud. You’ve got a great peer team of product managers, product owners, architects, and developers to collectively accomplish the mission.

As the manager of cloud architect team, you will help develop the industry’s best cloud architects’ team by enabling and coaching them on cloud architecture best practices, and how to create and present value-driven architectures of widely varying size and complexity.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the product, the customer, and the company mission.
  • Manage a team of cloud platform architects, focusing on team development, growth, efficiency, process, technical excellence, organization, and meeting business objectives.
  • Work directly with solution & enterprise architects, product managers, and business leaders to provide high-value platform solutions for the enterprise.
  • Actively manage the cloud spend for workloads which your team is responsible and ensure cloud costs are fully optimized.
  • Attract, recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent.
  • Review the performance of individual team members and provide effective coaching for improvement.
  • Hold regular meetings with your team to analyze metrics and understand how the platform is operating.
  • Facilitate high-value , out-come focused engagements with architects, developers and product managers/owners across the enterprise.
  • Foster a growth mindset in all employees.
  • Advocate for the team and promote their successes, celebrate their failures, and share key learnings throughout the organization.
  • Be a guardian of our world-class customer experience.
  • Continually raise the bar on functionality, flow, consistency, usability, and simplicity.
  • Stay abreast of industry/technology trends relevant to cloud architecture discipline.


Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years software engineering experience with complex software.
  • 5+ years’ experience architecting/developing/maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments, with a preference for cloud platform experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the public cloud services, with 4+ years’ experience operating solutions built on a public cloud (AWS preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience managing, leading or program managing architects.
  • Ability to learn a complex domain and the skills to present, discuss, and reason about the domain with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly understand and assess technical aspects of our products and components.
  • Ability to advise on best practices (architecture, implementation, team dynamics, automation, etc.).
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and work through technical differences to reach optimal solutions.
  • Ability to work with minimal amount of direction.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.


Desirable Criteria

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect)
  • Thorough and expert understanding of core AWS services.
  • Experience in developing solutions that align services offerings for complex migration to the cloud including strategies for migration to the cloud.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Experience with governance at scale, policy as code, and configuration as code.
  • Collaborative with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, technical challenges, and cross team dependencies.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Active listening and respect for other's opinions and ideas.
  • Ability to make decisions and to own the outcome.


Target Annual Salary Range: $139,560 - $249,212. This Pay Target range includes a bonus target of 5% of base salary. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
