The Sales and Marketing Assistant primary duty is the management of EBSCO customers. The SMA is directly responsible securing the renewal of all existing subscriptions as well as selling upgrades and additional products. The Sales and Marketing Assistant is also responsible for identifying opportunities and generating new sales of EBSCO products in the assigned territory.



Primary Responsabilities

  • Coordinate with the Regional Sales Manager daily;
  • Work with customers on a very individualized basis, using own judgment and discretion to decide best course of action for every situation;
  • Participate in the pricing and planning of official offers: an understanding of the pricing system and the ability to customize it on a per case basis is essential;
  • All functions designed and/or required to achieve sales quota(s) including preparing quotes, forwarding literature and administrative data entry;
  • Respond to ALL leads forwarded from the marketing department aligned with Sales Team;
  • Achieve an expert level of EBSCO’s Partner products knowledge and a working knowledge of the competition;
  • Complete all assignments requested by Sales Management.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree
  • Experience writing proposals, contracts and formal documents;
  • 2-years (preferred) experience selling in the field or by telephone; (Retail experience does not apply)
  • Able to Speak, Read and Write fluently in English and Portuguese;
  • Master Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook);
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and driven by aggressive sales goals.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Familiar with a diversity of search engines and online researching;
  • Team player;
  • Adaptability, able to handle changes in organization, team priorities or policies;
  • Customer Service knowledge;
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize: the SMA must follow own day plan but respond to RSMs, other departments within EBSCO or customers inquires in a timely fashion;
  • Self-motivated, creative and independent;
  • Able and willing to constantly learn about EBSCO products as well as the competition.
