EBSCO Information Technologies is looking for design talent. The Senior UI/UX Designer is an active leader on the User Experience team well-versed in the collaborative design process and capable of bringing innovative ideas from concept to code. You’ll be a key part of strategic initiatives and responsible for crafting best-in-class experiences and interfaces.

We are a multidisciplinary UX team made up of talented designers and researchers who focus on a wide variety of EBSCO products. We service numerous product and development teams across the organization helping the business achieve its goals.  


About the role
Your mission as the Senior UI/UX Designer will be to drive design quality on each and every project, while simultaneously advancing design standards for EBSCO’s products and platforms. You will work on a variety of projects that include internal and external facing web applications, and mobile applications.  

The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional design and a portfolio to match. We’re looking for a user-focused individual who can communicate ideas through sketches, prototypes, detailed mockups or code.

You will develop visual concepts (i.e. sketches, wireframes, high fidelity concepts, interactive prototypes and designs system components) to feed user research, long-range plans, capabilities and features to be executed by agile development teams.

  • Be able to solve complex scenarios with elegant and compelling design patterns.
  • Experience communicating in different levels of fidelity, anywhere from sketching to HTML/CSS.
  • Utilize storytelling in your design process to frame the problem space, justify design direction and establish measurement framework.  
  • Show strong ability to present to different audiences across the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and UX team members to brainstorm new, forward-thinking, features and functionalities.
  • Assist business stakeholders, and product management in planning design resources with a goal of providing consistent and reliable estimates for design tasks.
  • Work closely with the development teams to build and polish your design vision.
  • Champion a common design process and help maintain design standards in our centralized library of design elements and visual language.
  • Continue to build and advance EBSCO’s design system.
  • Be effective throughout the entire product development process, from problem definition to detailed UI and visual design

What you should have

  • A strong online portfolio, displaying a foundation in Typography, Interaction and Visual Design, and Ideation.
  • Solid understanding of building usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale to millions of users.
  • 7+ years as an individual contributor role within a UX team or equivalent.
  • Have shipped products and features. Not just designed a website.
  • Experience with design systems and component libraries
  • Must have an online portfolio. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert-level skills in design software (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.)
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS. (Advanced coding skills is a plus.)
  • Familiarity with a multitude of User Research methodologies and experience working from research findings.
  • An understanding of accessibility standards
  • Experience working with distributed teams and understand the sensibilities and responsibility that come with it.
  • Degree in a relevant field (HCI, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, etc.)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and be self-directed in daily tasks
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation
  • Solid oral, written and listening communication skills 


The position reports into the Design Manager within the User Experience Design team.



Target Annual Salary Range: $99,495 - $142,135  This Pay Target range includes a bonus target of 5% of base salary. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
