Mission: We are looking for an organized and efficient team player to join our proprietary content department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high quality online content is developed for a new product in EBSCO’s growing line of database products in the School, Public Library, and Academic markets. The person who fills this position will work on all aspects of the editorial process, from researching potential writers to commissioning articles, managing a timely peer review process, and finalizing articles. The person also plays an active role in identifying opportunities to further improve overall content quality and team processes. The right candidate is extremely detail oriented, is open to new challenges, and engages positively and proactively with others to quickly find solutions to ensure success. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the peer review process; communicate feedback with authors; set deadlines and follow-up to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist with commissioning articles written by professors; contact authors regularly to see if published articles need updating.
  • Manage authors after commissioning, ensuring they meet deadlines; check manuscripts for technical requirements and addressing peer review concerns.
  • Develop art specifications for articles; work with graphic designer in researching photos; create art specifications for charts and graphs; work with authors to finalize artwork and articles.
  • Prep articles for copyediting; resolve any problems found by copyeditors; review final manuscripts for quality and consistency; check for plagiarism.
  • Manage the invoicing process; send invoices on behalf of authors to Finance; coordinate payment to peer reviewers and report to Finance quarterly
  • Prepare articles for final processing; coordinate with internal content teams to upload content into our systems; check the product to make sure items present properly; troubleshoot to resolve any issues found on the product.
  • Provide support on with projects managed within the team as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in the publishing environment, especially with peer reviewed manuscripts
  • Must have excellent communication skills, especially in dealing tactfully and professionally with authors and peer reviewers


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks with a capacity for details, accuracy, organization and problem solving
  • Self-starter, able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Familiarity with the higher education environment helpful
  • Understanding of the publication and production process
  • Prior experience working with scholars and professors helpful
