The Agile Product Manager (APM) is an expert on a subset of EIS software products or services that make up the EBSCO Books Portfolio and understands how those products fit into the overarching product strategy. 

 

They are responsible for the effective translation of business objectives into clearly defined product capabilities and features and will serve as the point person for those features as they are implemented and released. They will partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing and Customer Service to refine requirements, support product positioning, launch, and release to market. This position requires leadership and collaboration across the organization to align priorities, gain consensus, and remove impediments with the goal of a continuous flow of valuable enhancements to our products and services.

 

As a member of the Books Program Team, you will be involved in key business initiatives including the design and development of new interfaces for users worldwide. The APM will utilize a unique blend of business and technical savvy to make the company vision a reality.  You will participate in customer user research and will take an active role in amplifying the voice of your customer and the product line strategy to Agile Product Owners, and development teams. You will work closely with systems architects and technologists to stay apprised of technology trends and key technologies utilized by the program.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • As a key member of the Program Team, you will work with multiple agile development teams as part of an agile release train to deliver great products and services to our customers
  • Collaborate with leadership in Product Management, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Technology, Customer Service and other groups on business objectives, priorities, and feature intent
  • Know your product and customer details and contribute a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the product, the customer, and the company mission
  • Work with business initiative (Epic) owners to support the vision and business requirements as a set of well written capabilities and features describing the functionality of the software or service, and which have clear acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with Software Architects to ensure the necessary technical capabilities are in place on which to build high performing, secure, and extensible software features
  • Maintain an actionable and prioritized agile release train backlog comprised of product capabilities, features, and technical enablers
  • Ensure high quality software releases to our customers that solve key market problems
  • Proactively communicate progress, decisions, impediments, and risks to stakeholders
  • Promote continuous improvement and support agile release train level change initiatives
  • Collaborate with user experience experts and user interface designers to ensure features have supporting documentation and design for an engaging customer experience
  • Work with Product Management, Platform Management, Technology, and Sales leaders to understand the business drivers, product/market intent, and customer expectations and represent those needs to sequence the work to the agile release train

 

Required Qualifications

  • Two or more years working in a Product Management, Product Owner, or Business Analyst capacity, in a software delivery capacity OR equivalent experience.
  • Two or more years working in lean-agile software development environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA degree or higher preferred, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Experience in the use of a variety of business analysis tools and techniques to aid in the breakdown of large chunks of work, elicit requirements, or make decisions
  • Experience in product management and delivery of consumer facing software or services
  • Experience working within a Lean-agile software product development method, such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe
  • Experience with software development in AWS
  • An understanding of technical systems at a level sufficient to assist with decision making and sequencing of key technology improvements that are needed to execute dependent features and functionality

 

Target Annual Compensation Range: $62,925 - $89,890. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
