Content Engineer


HealthDecision builds evidence-based clinical decision support tools that facilitate shared decision-making discussions between clinicians and patients at the point of care. The tools enable focused, clearer clinician-patient discussions exploring the benefits and harms of medical options.


The Content Engineer will work closely with clinicians and software developers to design clinical decision support tools. They will draft technical specifications for the development and testing of new tools.



  • Lay out user interfaces in adherence to an existing style guide
  • In consultation with clinicians, create logic trees based on national and customer healthcare guidelines
  • Understand the math behind risk calculations and writing specifications to communicate that understanding to developers
  • Design automated testing
  • Serve as a liaison and translator between clinicians and developers
  • Aid content editors in adding logic-specific guidelines to tools as necessary


Key Competencies:

  • Ability to read and understand scientific literature
  • Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow a project plan
  • Familiarity with the Healthcare IT workspace a plus


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (ex: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.)
  • 3+ years working in Microsoft Excel sufficient to demonstrate expert-level proficiency; proficiency in other Microsoft Office products
  • 2+ years of experience working in a rapidly changing business environment
  • 1+ year of working with 1+ computer programming language with ability to demonstrate reading of pseudo-code


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Git/GitHub version control a plus
  • Experience with Agile SAFe methodologies and ceremonies
  • Basic familiarity with statistics
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in communicating with technical and non-technical staff
