Basic Function:

In this role, the Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa will work closely with international sales and marketing team for the region to effectively position EBSCO in the territory through multiple channels.

The international marketing coordinator will create a consistent marketing approach, support the needs of sales, and support conferences for Sub-Saharan Africa.  He/she will work across multiple areas of the business to help drive sales by assisting in the development of compelling product positioning, creative messaging and innovative marketing strategies.

 

Essential Functions:

The marketing coordinator will plan and execute campaigns utilizing a variety of channels and tactics as appropriate for the region. Specifically, the marketing manager will:

  • Create fiscal year marketing plan and quarterly tactical plans for Sub-Saharan Africa that drive lead generation, product adoption and renewals, and influence purchasing decisions of EBSCO products
  • Assist in development of messaging and product positioning based on understanding the needs of the Sub-Saharan Africa market
  • Draft and/or localize marketing content including blog posts, newsletters, infographics, flyers, web copy, emails, and sales collateral to drive demand and awareness of EBSCO’s product lines
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of marketing programs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with social media team to develop an effective social media strategy and drive social engagement
  • Liaise with sales to determine key market influencers in the territory for content distribution 
  • Facilitate ongoing communication/coordination with Sub-Saharan Africa sales team
  • Create customer engagement materials such as posters, user guides, infographics and HTML for customers to send emails to end users for major product lines
  • Oversee and organize participation at conference, including workshops, meetups and panel discussions
  • Manage and execute webinars in coordination with external and internal stakeholders
  • Secure speaking opportunities at conferences, on panels and other sales driven events
  • Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns to adjust and improve approaches
  • Manage the Sub-Saharan Africa marketing budget - and work with international marketing management to determine appropriate ways to allocate budget
  • Work on other projects as needed / directed by marketing management

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be based in Johannesburg
  • Bachelors candidate or degree in marketing, business, communications major
  • Proficient knowledge of the English language in speech and writing
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office, graphic design programs a plus (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Travel 10%
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
  • Excellent organization skills
