This position calls for experience with ETL (Extract Transform Load) technologies. EBSCO is embarked at designing a new Data Pipeline Contention Ingestion that can keep with our current technological and business challenges. EBSCO is the academic and medical information search premier search provider with more than a Petabyte of indexed information. All these amounts for massive ingestion and transformation of digital data. This engineer will collaborate with a team of developers that designs, implement and support a highly scalable data pipeline using AWS technologies. This Software Engineer should be a self-starter that can handle multiple priorities simultaneously.  Most importantly, the candidate should display a proven background in software development, agile practices, content management, software testing and a desire to broaden their software development skills. 


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with product management and your team while analyzing and decomposing complex software features into simpler stories for planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with your team to manage and estimate the size and complexity of the features/stories and commit to what can be accomplished in an iteration.
  • Collaborate with your team gain knowledge on the domains and be self-sufficient in addressing any defects
  • Author, review, and help in implementation of test plans, test cases, and automated tests to ensure adequate coverage based on requirements
  • Own system and feature quality throughout the development, testing, deployment and production phases to ensure delivery expectations (both time and quality) are met.
  • Drive value and continuously improve the quality of the team’s deliverables.
  • Contribute to software engineering best practices for design, coding standards, performance, test automation, security, delivery, maintainability, and culture.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, including an ability to look forward and anticipate problems and assess risk.
  • Being able to rapidly understand complex problems in an independent manner.
  • Excellent mentoring skills and the desire to contribute to efforts beyond the scope of the day-to-day project work.  
  • Desires to work in a team environment with close collaboration amongst peers
  • An avid learner but also a wiling and generous teacher. Being able to become a domain expert but also caring to disseminate and train others on the subjects.


Required skill

  • 5 to 10 years of professional development experience using Java or C#. 
  • 5+ years of proven experience designing, implementing and supporting ETL, distributed computing, highly scalable and available system.
  • CI/CD, QA Automation
  • HTML, XML/JSON, HTTP, SSL, API design and versioning, XSLT familiarity.
  • Experience with Git and/or other versioning systems
  • Monitoring: Opsgenie, Zabbix, Nagios or similar
  • DevOps experience
