The Senior Software Engineer for Enterprise Platform & Automation supports the Agile development environment; building capabilities that will ensure quality and facilitate the rapid, reliable deployment of new features for a wide range of EBSCO products. You will be responsible for enabling teams to continuously deliver software, providing quick feedback with respect to the capability, and upholding the integrity of the evolving end-to-end solution. The products and services that you will help create provide access to academic, scientific, medical, and consumer resources that inform the world -- advancing research in traditional and emerging fields and transforming learning and education.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and logistical support for operations and efficiency of the development organization
  • Build, maintain and continuously improve an infrastructure for a multi-site development team including repositories, build tools, CI/CD capabilities
  • Provide dependable environments and platforms for all manners of testing in support of the feature development teams.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect quality or release capabilities.
  • Influence and drive operational excellence and best practices within the organization
  • Foster the growth of your team in an agile environment; plan together, collaborate on solutions, and support each other.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, equivalent experience, or related field required.
  • 5+ years' experience or background in Build and Release Engineering.
  • 3+ years' experience setting up and/or maintaining automated build system and CI/CD.
  • 3+ years' experience in programming in Python, Ansible and/or shell scripting.
  • Experience working with product development teams using languages such as: C#, Java
  • 3+ years working with distributed version control systems such as Git.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in a role supporting a product development organization which has successfully delivered consumer oriented products.
  • Strong experience in Python (or other languages) developing tools and/or automation frameworks
  • Self-directed, demonstrates leadership and a team player
  • Enthusiasm and adaptability for working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Experience with evaluating and integrating open source and in-house developed toolsets
  • Passionate about learning new technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
