NAT Writer Contractor


NAT [Natural & Alternative Treatments] is an evidence-based database that cites more than 12,000 clinical research studies across 700 articles containing information on medical conditions, alternative therapies, herbs and supplements, functional foods, drug interactions and homeopathy.


The NAT Writer is a temporary position focused on renewing the NAT database. This work will include reformatting current documents, searching the literature for more recent information, integration of data, and creation of new topics.  



  • Completes all processes assigned, including, article creation and update
  • Writes high-quality proprietary content in all areas
  • Tests new NAT formats and provides feedback on these to editorial management
  • Meets production rates when applicable
  • Communicates project status to Associate Managing Editor
  • Proofs and edits content returned from Medical Editor
  • Recommends new topics to add to product



  • Bachelor's degree in a health, medical or writing field (Master's degree preferred)
  • > 2 years writing medical content for a patient audience
  • > 2 years working directly with health literacy and plain language standards
  • > 2 years of experience writing scientific or medical content, including conducting literature searches and critically appraising medical literature
  • > 4 years of experience working in Microsoft Word
  • Pharmacology experience is a plus


This is a contract role and can be completed remotely, including regular online/voice meetings with the Associate Managing Editor and Clinical Reviewer to discuss and plan for format changes.
