EBSCO Information Services Architecture is looking for a leader of its SAFe Systems Architecture practice. Systems Architects work directly with development teams and are focused on the present and the near-term technical challenges, doing proof of concepts and building architectural runway. We have a great team of engaged, accomplished Systems Architects and they need a dynamic servant leader.

This role is primarily focused on the leadership and development of System Architects and Community of Architects practices and enables self-directed teams to successfully execute against their goals within a Product and Agile organization in support of corporate vision and strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Systems Architecture, this leader is constantly looking for ways to collaborate with the other leaders in Architecture to link the near-term architectural needs of Systems and Solution Architecture with the longer-term work being done by Enterprise Architecture.

 

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, retain and develop 5-9 top notch System Architects
  • Establish and foster a culture of feedback loops
  • Communicate constantly, both electronically and face to face
  • Help to refine and improve cross-team software development processes and tools 

  • Report key issues, progress, and plans to senior management
  • Support Architecture Operations efforts, such as backlog curation and Office of the CIO objectives
  • Support alignment with enterprise-level initiatives, such as the Digital Workplace Strategy
  • Lead accountability, autonomy, and empowerment within your team and manage the appropriate boundaries to achieve the result of having self-directed System Architects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study
  • 2+ years managing teams
  • 5+ years relevant technology experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in Agile methodology, enterprise agile, LESS, DA(D) or SAFe

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of one or more project management technologies (Rally, Jira, Asana)
  • Knowledge of EBSCOhost internal (proprietary) technology 


  • 5 years mission critical online service development 

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and efficiently balance between them
  • A sense of urgency and a strong bias for action
  • A highly self-motivated individual who acts proactively, and acknowledges problems, takes responsibility, and determines what can be done to solve the problem.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with web-based tools for collaboration and communication
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
