Director, ScrumMasters
The Mission of the Director, ScrumMasters will be to drive EIS’s Scaled Agile maturity and continuous improvement across EIS’s Agile Teams. The Director’s primary focus will be on the development of EIS’s Lean Leads (ScrumMasters) as well as working with the Agile Teams and associated leadership to build high performing Teams and will view the team’s success as paramount to their success.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director of Agile Teams will partner with leadership in defining and executing strategy in driving our Lean-Agile transformation across EIS with a focus on developing high performing ScrumMasters and Agile Teams.  This strategy includes our implementation of SAFe and adoption of Lean tools, practices and principles, with the goal of removing waste and unlocking trapped potential to grow EIS.  The Director will:

  • Have direct supervisory responsibility for a team of Lean Leads across multiple locations and will drive, coach and mentor staff in their SAFe adoption and maturity. 
  • Partner with agile team management to build high performing teams across EIS including management and coaching of team dynamics. \
  • Provide SAFe and Agile coaching and support to direct reports, Agile members and Agile team managers in their adoption of Lean-Agile practices and mindsets. 
  • Assess staffing and other technology gaps that prevent Teams from achieving their mission and reaching their full potential.  Work with senior leaders to drive economic decisions involving funding, recruiting and training efforts to close any known gaps. 
  • Partner with Agile Release Train Leaders to drive each ART’s success through high performing teams.
  • Be metrics focused and use metrics to identify trends, coaching needs and continuous improvement opportunities across each ART and all Agile teams.
    Through leadership, coaching, training, and governance you will help us grow our continuous improvement culture and improve our operational efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Role-Based Competencies

  • Lean-Agile Practitioner: Knows and appreciates the depths of Lean-Agile practices and principles so they may influence individuals, teams, and managers of all levels within the organization. Believes in the change we have embarked upon and is a living example of principles and practices they coach.
  • Coaching: able to guide others on a journey of self-discovery through observation, questioning, nudging, and other tools to help them understand and execute Lean, Agile, and continuous improvement through problem solving.
  • Facilitating: Sets a high bar for facilitation of team and ART level ceremonies, problem solving sessions, conflict resolutions, and similar meetings. Able to facilitate a team during Program Increment Planning.

Requirements:

  • BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in the ScrumMaster role
  • 2+ Years of experience in a role requiring strong collaboration, communication, team-based, organization, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • 3+ years of ScrumMaster Management Experience
  • 3+ years defining and leading Agile software development practices, focus on ScrumMaster practices is a plus
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
  • Experience delivering Agile and ScrumMaster training
  • Experience working in an Agile at Scale framework
  • SAFe 4 Program Consultant (SPC) certification
