Content Development Editor

 

The Content Development Editor reviews and edits content submitted by internal and external writers for new and existing nursing & allied health point of care and reference products. The Content Development Editor ensures content meets EBSCO Health’s quality standards.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs developmental editing and advanced copyediting for point of care nursing & allied health content, requiring varying degrees of critical analysis, problem-solving, and independent judgement to improve quality before online publication
  • Ensures readability, clarity, flow and consistency of content
  • Applies best practices for creating web content
  • Ensures content adheres to house style guide and other style guides (e.g., AMA Manual of Style) as needed
  • Assists with content maintenance and updates
  • Identifies and promotes more efficient methods and workflows for specific editorial efforts
  • Communicates and collaborates professionally with clinical writers/editors, product managers and UI/UX teams as needed to address issues impacting content within the nursing & allied health products
  • Provides content writer/editor ongoing education and support related to editorial policies, procedures and style guides
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, documentation, and updating of editorial policies and procedures (including template structures and writing guidelines) that foster readability and consistency across content areas
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as English, Health Communications/Communications, Journalism, Education)
  • 3+ years of experience with editing medical, nursing, or other healthcare-related content
  • 3+ years of experience requiring excellent writing skills and critical thinking skills
  • 3+ years of experience with MS Office Suite including Word (with use of track changes) and Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with:
    • 5+ years of experience with editing health-related content
    • 5+ years of experience requiring excellent writing skills and critical thinking skills
  • Experience editing/writing web-based content
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High computer literacy skills and aptitude to learn editing/content management software and perform related skills (such as tagging and linking); experience in XML editing a plus
  • Project focused to complete tasks under tight/changing deadlines and moderate supervision
  • Ability to apply independent thinking and analysis to complete identified assignments efficiently

 

We are accepting candidates who can work in one of our offices in Ipswich or Boston, Massachusetts. We may consider partially remote candidates.
