Agile Product Owner

 

Mission

 

As an Agile Product Owner, you will build features for existing EBSCO Health products and services while helping to develop and drive new ideas. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy and the drive to make the company vision a reality. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities, and a strong aptitude for building consensus and facilitating change.

 

Excellent communication is essential, as you will need to communicate with all areas of the company and your team. You will work as a key member of an agile product development team to represent the customer and help create and refine requirements and features while forming mutual understanding across the development team and stakeholders. You will work with Product Manager counterparts to define and coordinate feature development across other teams. You will work with business stakeholders to ensure that development work aligns with desired product positioning, fully realizes key benefits, and meets the needs of the target customer.

 

You will lead the implementation of feature enhancements and new product offerings in a highly collaborative environment. You will implement product vision & product development with a clear focus on customer and end-user needs. This role will fulfill the development team’s need for product direction, understanding the detail of personas and their problems. You will have the ability to see the best path forward and be able to prioritize the team’s work as a function of both technical dependencies and business criticality.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Preparation and participation in release planning
    • Own the team backlog
    • Contribute to program vision and roadmap
    • Key stakeholder in story definition assisting the team with clarification, estimates, story sequencing and team objectives for program increments
  • Sprint execution including Backlog Refinement and Iteration Planning.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of an off-site group
  • Manage communications and relationships with diverse stakeholders, ranging from Product Managers, Project Managers, developers, designers, QA engineers, architects, requirements analysts, customer satisfaction staff
  • Work with Customer satisfaction to make sure their needs are met in the design process, training and rollout

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of software agile development experience
  • 2+ year of experience in personnel management or project management
  • 1+ year of experience working with geographically dispersed teams

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Product Owner and/or development experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing remote personnel
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) methods and processes
  • Ability to define and document product requirements
  • Demonstrated success in a matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated excellence at prioritizing projects
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
