Agile Development Manager
EBSCO Information Services has an exciting opportunity for an Agile Development Manager on the EBSCO Health team working in the Durham NC office.  This manager is a leader who guides, coaches and mentors software engineers in the design, development, delivery, and operation of premier evidence-based clinical decision support solutions. This person will lead teams committed to meeting the diverse needs of healthcare organizations around the world.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Manage 3 functional development teams of 7-9 developers with a focus on team culture, quality, and operations.  Act as a supportive leader to teams so that they are enabled to maximize the value they can deliver to the business. Foster and enable software craftsmanship and innovation.
•    Advocate quality through collaboration on test automation strategies and guidance of efforts to engineer quality into products.  Implement and maintain measurements across teams to monitor and sustain product quality.
•    Work directly with product owners, business representatives and software architects to provide business solutions from inception to operation.  Stay abreast of industry/technology trends relevant to the Software Engineering discipline.  Be a guardian of world-class customer experience. 
•    Implement operational capabilities to provide monitoring, alerting, and on-call rotation within the teams.  Ensure that operational performance meets expectations of Service Level Agreement commitments.  Own the tracking of current cloud infrastructure costs, forecast cost increases, and drive cost savings efforts.
•    Live the principles behind the Agile Manifesto and SAFe framework in all interactions and equip the team to do the same.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related technical field
10+ years’ experience in software design and development
3+ years’ experience as a senior team lead or manager in an agile SW development environment
3+ years’ experience in agile/Scrum/Kanban/SAFe
2+ years’ experience with Java development
2+ years’ experience with Cloud-based solutions and operations
Proven track record in fostering, grooming, and growing self-governed teams
Proven track record in attracting new talent and retaining key talent
Conflict resolution and coaching
Change management and coaching
Ability to quickly understand and assess the technical aspects of our products and components
Ability to advise on best practices (architecture, implementation, team dynamics, etc.)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Superb communication and presentation skills
Capable of contributing technically when necessary
Effective knowledge of software design patterns, algorithms, data structures, and modern programming techniques

Relevant experience:
Test automation strategy
DevOps solutions, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
Operational expertise for cloud-based solutions (AWS)
Database design and data architecture
Data pipeline and data ingestion systems
Microservices architecture
Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprises (SAFe)
