If you have a passion for books, reading, and public libraries, this is the place for you!

NoveList is part of EBSCO Information Services, which provides a complete and optimized research solution comprised of e-journals, e-books, and research databases – all combined with a power discovery service to support the information needs and maximize the research experience of our end-users.

The role:
We’re looking for a Sales and Marketing Specialist who is passionate about libraries but also has an interest in working outside a traditional library setting. This is a full-time position. While NoveList’s headquarters are in Durham, NC, this person may work remotely from anywhere.

As the ideal candidate, you’ll demonstrate an ability to understand the problems libraries, especially public libraries, face and connect those problems to the solutions NoveList offers. You’re excited to talk with library workers about what is happening in their library and you like passing on information you hear to other teams. You are customer-focused, persuasive and enthusiastic, able to work independently and with others, and comfortable doing online presentations.

Building relationships comes naturally to you, including developing rapport with customers and sales teams. You love researching, identifying, and communicating with our customers (primarily public and school libraries). You’re organized and good at follow-through. You’re a strong advocate of customer needs and our products. And you thrive on feedback, both giving and receiving it.

The responsibilities:

  • Introducing people to NoveList, communicating the passion and the expertise that goes into our products.
  • Advising customers on the features and benefits of our products, connecting their needs to our solutions.
  • Recording important details of customer conversations for review by other teams at NoveList.
  • Advising sales teams on strategies and positioning for customers.
  • Developing strategies and plans for targeting top customers.
  • Making presentations to customers, mostly online but also in person. This position assists non-US/Canadian sales teams and customers, so some customer and sales teams conversations will need to happen outside of regular business hours.
  • Working with sales and marketing teams to identify and qualify opportunities, including coordinating monthly sales pipeline calls with your assigned sales teams.
  • Following up with customers, answering their questions.
  • Providing feedback to product development teams on potential enhancements and to the marketing team on product positioning.
  • Attending conferences and staffing a booth as needed.

Whom you’ll work with:

You’ll be a member of the Sales and Marketing team, which has direct impact on the success of the NoveList division. We are a creative and supportive group that believes in the power of reading and libraries to change lives.

The Sales and Marketing Specialist reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing. You’ll work closely with your partner Sales and Marketing Specialist on sales strategies, sales team engagement, and sales enablement materials. You’ll work with the Outside Sales Director to identify opportunities and ensure that all customers receive follow-ups after demos and trials. You’ll work with the inside and outside sales managers for your assigned territories on sales strategies, scheduling demos, and identifying opportunities. You’ll also work with the Communication and Marketing Specialists and the Product Management Team about buyer needs, library trends, and competitor information.

What this job requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1 year experience working as a librarian or in a library.
  • Demonstrated experience with marketing, communications, or sales.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite and strong PowerPoint skills.

What will set you apart from the rest:

  • Knowledge of readers’ advisory and library marketing.
  • Knowledge of NoveList products and services.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with CRM software.

If you feel that you meet some but not all the requirements, don’t let a confidence gap stop you from applying. Sometimes a list of “preferred qualifications” can miss the elements that would most strengthen our team; we value the many different skills which make all of us unique. EBSCO is an equal opportunity employer.
