As Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for all areas of our warehouse facility on a day to day basis. You will lead and manage the warehouse ensuring professional, cost effective and efficient methods of warehouse operations. You will be proactive, solution focused with a positive mindset.

We operate a clean environment with no racking. Goods are brought in based on customer order and swiftly turned around. We operate with complex customer requirements. Ability to monitor accuracy within the teams is essential for customer satisfaction.

Our warehouse is production based and focus is around accurate and fast goods in and out.

Experience in pick operations and logistics management is crucial.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, organising, and controlling warehouse operations - Oversee all warehouse processes from goods in through to final despatch (Goods In, Inventory, Book Processing, Cataloguing, Goods Out (invoicing and despatch), Logistics, Technical Services).
  • Ensure orders are prioritised effectively to meet customer despatch dates. Ensure compliance of picking & packing to customer requirements and standards.
  • Working with logistics partners (primarily couriers) to ensure all paperwork requirements are met.
  • Staff training and performance management - Manage a number of teams to minimise churn and maximise productivity. Supervise and motivate a wide variety of workers, building a robust team spirit. Identify training requirements across the workforce and develop skill sets.
  • Refine and update standard operating procedures ensuring implementation of efficient workflows and processes.
  • Monitor quality standards and constantly strive to improve output in all areas. Ensuring the required levels of performance, work standards, outputs, service and quality are achieved.
  • Ensure that equipment costs are minimised by effective control of usage and maintenance. Monitor and control costs, assisting with budgets. Put forward cases for investment in equipment and changes to ways of working.
  • Implementing, measuring and monitoring performance standards - devise and implement robust and transparent KPIs across all areas. Plan and prioritize daily production workflows ensuring KPIs are meet.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and ensure they are followed at all times. Ensure that the warehouse operation complies with all budgetary, service, security, stock integrity, health and safety and other legal requirements.
  • Supporting the business on tender completion. Typically expert advice will be required covering timescales to supply, green initiatives and health and safety.
  • Undertake other duties and ad hoc projects as required by the business.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years previous warehouse management experience with a thorough understanding of logistics and best warehouse practices. Proven understanding of H&S systems, manual handling and the safe movement of goods together with the ability to identify and resolve safety issues as they arise.
  • Logistics / supply chain experience is essential – you must have a strong understanding of commercial invoices, INCOTERMS, managing couriers.
  • Strong written and oral skills. High level of numeracy and attention to detail in daily work. You must be able to communicate to a high level with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Report writing and KPI monitoring – you will be required to report back performance to management on a weekly basis.
  • IT literate (Microsoft applications, ERP system etc) - knowledge of PC’s and software and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Strong organisational, scheduling and prioritisation skills – an awareness of Quality Management Systems and Lean methodology is desirable.
  • Proven experience of managing and leading a small / medium size teams in fast moving warehouse environments. Ability to supervise and motivate a team to deliver results cost-efficiently and accurately. Experienced in staff training, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Understanding of budgets and P&Ls
