Entry Level First Shift Book Processing Technician Position - $10.50/hr (No Experience Necessary)

Book Processing Technicians do a variety of tasks, listed below.  Technicians apply products to books according to detailed library specifications and pick books from the warehouse shelving.  This is an entry level position; we will train people to perform these tasks.  

  • Will apply barcodes; theft detection devices; stamps; date dues spine and book labels 
  • Pick books in the warehouse; perform quality control; scan barcodes on a computer; and alphabetize books
  • Some employees may be assigned additional tasks, including: applying book covers; cutting covers; bindery work; book repair, pick list preparation; and updating various internal documents
  • Assigned tasks may include other jobs which are not listed

 

Technicians will be trained to use the company’s computer and a barcode scanner. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; frequently talk and hear; regularly lift/move up to 5 lbs., frequently lift/move up to 15 lbs., and may occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs. depending on the assignment; must regularly walk on concrete floors including on OT and move carts full of books; may occasionally stoop; specific vision requirements include close vision for viewing PC/CRT monitor.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Comprehend and act upon detailed written and verbal technical instructions
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
