What does the GOBI Profiling Unit do?

We enrich the company’s records for individual books with useful information, using the print or digital copies of those titles. That information is then used to help our external customers make purchasing decisions and by our colleagues within the company to provide the many other services GOBI offers.

What does a Bibliographer/Cataloger in the Profiling Unit do?

Known internally and to our customers as the Profilers, these are the people who perform “book-in-hand” analysis of the content of each title in order to assign proprietary metadata --a vast and evolving set of GOBI-defined values, developed in collaboration with our customers to meet their specific needs. Profilers objectively assign these data points using their knowledge of the academic publishing industry, their understanding of customer needs, and an extensive repertoire of established usage guidelines.
