The Subscription Services Division of EBSCO Information Services (EIS), located in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, independent self-starter with an excellent work-ethic who wants to be challenged and grow.  The Staff Accountant will have the opportunity to work with our domestic and international EBSCO team members and report directly to the Vice President of Accounting, Tax and Compliance.



  • Prepare month-end reports in conjunction with Operational General Managers and VP of Accounting to explain sales, margin, and expense variances
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and take lead on resolving variances
  • Prepare reports to summarize top issues by working with Operational General Managers and VP of Accounting
  • Process and prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile accounts and research issues
  • Participate in month end and fiscal year end closing activities under tight deadlines
  • Manage accounting, tax and compliance requests from EIS local offices in conjunction with VP of Accounting
  • Assist with special projects and analysis as needed



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of relevant Accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • CPA preferred but not required
