Editorial Director, Clinical Decision Support

The Editorial Director, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) will ensure a constant flow of high-quality, relevant clinical decision support content for EBSCO Health. He/she will establish a combined workflow for a shared decision-making (SDM) product and other clinical decision support content.

 

The ideal candidate will be a creative and detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys creating workflows but is flexible enough to handle changing deliverables and fast-paced schedules. He/she will also be an experienced editorial manager with a deep understanding of critical appraisal and delivering evidence-based medicine information to end users, who can coach and help team members build their own skills to succeed. This role will have direct reports and will work with various groups across the organization representing the editorial process.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and plan an editorial workflow for EBSCO Health’s SDM product.
  • Work closely with content leads to create a sustainable workflow to deliver content based on the mission of the Option Grid and HealthDecision products.
  • Manage a team of editorial content producers, including operational, functional, editorial and personnel management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product Management, Technology, and UX/UI to establish effective and efficient processes and workflows between groups.
  • Act as a single source of current information concerning editorial issues for the SDM product.
  • Recruit, interview and hire new editorial team members, including managers.
  • Participate in exploration and planning of how the SDM product can leverage production efficiencies with established EBSCO products including clinician reference and patient education.
  • Expand the new workflows to incorporate new products that may be added by acquisition or internal innovation.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing editorial processes that scale
  • 7+ years of writing experience related to medical or scientific content
  • 4+ years of personnel and operational management of an editorial team in an environment of tight deadlines
  • 3+ years of experience editing content produced by others, including providing constructive feedback and training
  • 2+ years of experience demonstrating successfully overcoming challenging content development problems
  • 2+ years of project management experience

  • Strong understanding of the business vision, goals, and strategies
  • Track record for allocating writing resources to deliver a steady stream of high-quality content
  • Ability to exercise judgment to make decisions
  • Experience in a multi- or inter-disciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, such as initiative, strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills such that feedback is effectively and constructively given
