Job Summary

Alys Beach is seeking an experienced Beverage Manager. This position is located at Neat Bottle Shop, in Alys Beach Community, Florida. The Beverage Manager will work closely with the Management team to drive standards and day-to-day operations, as well as Bar Operations. The Beverage Manager should be versed in product ordering, receiving, and inventory, as well as day-to-day floor management, and bartending. The position requires a high amount of self-motivation and dedication to a job well done. While the administrative side of the beverage department will be a main focus, it is not the full scope of responsibility for this position. The Beverage Manager will also have responsibilities in other food and beverage outlets within Alys Beach.

 

First day medical benefits and company profit sharing. $1,000 sign-on bonus for this position.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the beverage program for all Alys Beach amenities including Neat Bottle Shop, The Beach Club, Caliza, The Silva, and Catering. Work closely with outlet managers to keep the beverage offerings seasonal, unique, and vibrant for our homeowners and rental guests while staying on Brand with Alys Beach Standards.
  • This position oversees all alcoholic beverage purchasing through a pool buying license for Alys Beach owned amenities. Responsibilities include but not limited to receiving deliveries into our inventory management software, invoice processing and filing of information to be compliant with local and state laws and delivering inventory to the various outlets as well as keeping the beverage warehouse organized.
  • This position will manage COGS and analyzing P&L.
  • This position must maintain strong relationships with our preferred vendors to ensure competitive pricing and accessing unique spirits and wines. The candidate should be well versed in fine wines and spirits and have familiarity with trending winemakers and distillers.
  • This position provides morning and manager days off coverage at Neat Bottle Shop. 
  • This position works very closely with the Alys Beach Events team for activations including but not limited to 30A Wine Festival, Digital Grafitti, Alys Crafted, and various other curated experiences. The ideal candidate must have an eye for quality and uniqueness that parallels Alys Beach events. This person is responsible for all event beverage storage, inventory, logistics, and invoice reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • This position oversees in-home tastings and deliveries to Alys Beach residences. This person will work closely with the Alys Beach Concierge team to promote beverage delivery of bottles and cocktail kits for arriving rental guests and homeowners. The candidate will grow and maintain relationships with owners and guests to anticipate needs based on their likes and preferences.
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol. Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Communicating effectively and respectfully with guests, staff, superiors, and vendors.
  • Making solid decisions in a time pressured environment.

  • Resolving customer and staff issues.
  • Monitoring and evaluating employee performance while being a learning tool for associates to consistently rely on to gain perspective and direction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, work efficiently, and multitask, all while being focused on the standards of Alys Beach as well as the standards of our food and beverage program.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10 years of Beverage service experience, with at least 5 years of purchasing and receiving.
  • Prior experience in Bartending/Server/Retail.
  • Experience using inventory software, managing COGS and analyzing P&L.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally verbally and in writing
  • Strong Beverage knowledge. Beer/Wine/Liquor.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor during periods of stress.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and MICROS POS a plus
  • Degree in a Hospitality Program a plus
  • TIPS Certified
  • Cicerone Level 1 certification.
  • Wine certification. Level 1 Court of Master Sommelier.
  • Mixology course.

Essential Job Function

  • Ability to stand for 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, squat, carry plates, trays of glasses and lifts glass racks and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times per shift.
  • Ability to tolerate some exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, and humidity.
