Staff Accountant- Tenant Accounts
Job Summary
Alys Beach is looking for an experienced Accountant to be responsible for managing agreements for our tenants and ensuring compliance within accounting standards and regulations. This role involves analyzing and recording lease transactions, tracking rent payments, security deposits and additional charges associated with their lease, ensuring accurate billing and reconciliations. Preparing detailed financial reports, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate and timely lease data. The Tenant Accountant is responsible for assisting in the management of all leases and subleases for the company.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret lease agreements for proper accounting treatment.
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather accurate lease-related data and documentation.
- Prepare and maintain detailed lease accounting schedules and journal entries, including the set up of rent payments in accordance with the lease.
- Tracking all payments and expenditures, including security deposits, real property taxes, credit card, purchase orders, invoices and statements, etc..
- Reconciling processed payments through verification of entries and other supporting documents to balances.
- Correspondence with all creditors, vendors, and clients regarding payment schedules, outstanding credits, and other finance-related inquiries.
- Monthly updates to base rents, additional rents, and payees.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual lease-related financial reports.
- Support responses to external and internal audit requests by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Managing the processes, workflows, and systems already created for their assigned portfolios.
- Ensure adherence to established lease accounting policies and procedures.
- Troubleshooting errors and working with the team to resolve them in a professional manner.
- Preparation of the annual CAM Budget and true up with the tenants for balance due or to be refunded.
- Working with vendors and processing invoices and payments for common area, and landlord responsibilities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in lease accounting or related field.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft office skills, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to staying current with accounting standards and industry trends.
