Basic Electric Supply, a Wholesale Electrical Distributor in Lafayette, LA, is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to take full ownership of the branch’s profit-and-loss, build a high-performing team, and grow the business—with the autonomy of a small-business owner and the resources of a larger organization behind them.

This is not a maintenance role. You’ll set strategy, make real decisions, and be directly accountable for results. You’ll work closely with senior leadership on goals and growth, but the day-to-day is yours to run.

Job Responsibilities

P&L & Business Management

• Take full ownership of the branch P&L—sales, margins, and operating expenses against budget—with the authority to make decisions that directly influence results.
• Set and track targets for sales, productivity, and inventory turns; report results to senior leadership on a regular cadence.

Sales Leadership

• Act as the primary sales driver—manage key customer accounts, conduct outside sales calls, and set local sales strategy.
• Protect and grow the branch’s most important customer relationships, and personally step in when an issue needs to be resolved.

Inventory & Vendor Control

• Exercise full discretion over product stocking and vendor selection, keeping the right product on the shelf without tying up cash in slow-moving inventory.
• Build and strengthen vendor and manufacturer relationships; negotiate pricing and terms tailored to the local contractor and industrial market.

Team Leadership & Development

• Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate branch staff; recommend promotions and compensation adjustments for those who earn them.
• Set clear expectations, hold people accountable, and develop your team’s capabilities over time.

Operational Oversight

• Oversee counter sales, warehouse operations, delivery/order fulfillment, and customer service standards to maintain a profitable, well-run branch.
• Lead branch safety meetings, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain the facility and equipment.

Job Requirements

Experience

• 5–10 years of electrical distribution experience, or comparable professional experience, with a track record of progression into leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L, read financial statements, and make decisions based on operating data.

Skills

• Strong leadership and team development—you hold people accountable without losing their trust.
• Consultative selling ability and customer relationship management at the key-account level.
• Well organized, composed under pressure, and capable of managing competing priorities without losing focus.
• Financially literate: comfortable with budgets, margin analysis, and inventory metrics.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
