Job Summary

As a Production Technician I, also referred to internally as a Copper Bender Operator, you will play a vital role in our manufacturing process based in Egan, LA. Your primary responsibility will involve setting up, operating, and maintaining production equipment to efficiently manufacture, process, and assemble a variety of commercial products. This position requires close adherence to detailed product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure high-quality output that meets stringent quality standards and production metrics.

Working under the direct supervision of experienced personnel, you will monitor production runs, identify any issues or inconsistencies, and promptly report equipment malfunctions or deviations in production quality. A strong focus on safety, including safe material handling and the correct use of protective gear, is essential in this role to maintain a safe and productive working environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and operate production machinery and tools according to product specifications and work instructions.
  • Ensure proper operation of equipment throughout production shifts, adjusting settings as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor product output closely for compliance with quality standards and report any non-conformances or production concerns to supervisory staff.
  • Perform inspections and basic quality checks on products during and after the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation, recording data such as production quantities, downtime, and equipment issues.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines rigorously, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials.
  • Assist in routine equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal operation and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in training programs and safety meetings to stay informed on best practices and company policies.

Job Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 0-1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical processes and ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and operating instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work under close supervision, follow instructions accurately, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, and handle materials safely.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to shift work and a fast-paced production environment.

Essential Job Function

The essential functions of the Production Technician I / Copper Bender Operator role include the precise setup and operation of production equipment to manufacture commercial products in strict accordance with blueprints and SOPs. This entails monitoring the production process to ensure products meet quality and efficiency standards, promptly identifying and escalating any equipment malfunctions or product inconsistencies.

Maintaining detailed production records is critical to document output, operational issues, and compliance with safety protocols. The role requires adherence to safe material handling practices and the consistent use of personal protective equipment to safeguard yourself and coworkers.

Working closely with senior team members and supervisors, you will perform routine equipment maintenance and contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at optimizing production efficiency and product quality.
