General Description:

Provides front line leadership within the distribution related functions as well as light assembly functions that may include multiple facilities. Using a lean philosophy as the guiding principles, oversees the delivery of finished goods to customers and consumers taking into consideration speed to shelf, quality, and value with a brand centric focus.   The Distribution Lead works with other functional leaders to insure product is at the right place at the right time with a focus on speed to shelf, quality, and value.  Maintains an environment of excellence, quality control, teamwork and safety at all times.  He/she must be able to communicate with internal company personnel, as well as customers, with equal effectiveness and professionalism.

Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Delivers a best in class customer and consumer experience by executing a systemic, scalable and sustainable process that delivers speed to shelf, quality, and value.

Specific Duties:

  • Executes and supports a lean philosophy throughout the organization.
  • Supports a brand centric focus within the order cycle operations organization and helps to support this focus throughout the organization.
  • Monitors compliance of departmental metrics.
  • Ensures that workload is completed on time.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of systems, policies and procedures and makes appropriate suggestions to ensure daily operations are efficient.
  • Has input on the performance evaluations, salary adjustments and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Supports efforts to deliver a culture where people work together as knowledgeable, productive and motivated team members to make a difference.
  • Constantly seeks, tests, and implements improvements to methods, practices, procedures and systems to bring about greater efficiency and productivity.

  • Carry out other duties, responsibilities, and projects as may be assigned, in an effective manner.

  • On-time Complete Shipments
  • Shipment and Inventory Accuracy
  • DC and Transportation Costs as % of Sales

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • A minimum of 3 years in positions of Distribution, Inventory Mangement, Transportation, or light assembly. 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in working in a best in class distribution and transportation organization.
  • Applicable professional certifications (i.e., APICS, CPIM) preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to cooperatively interact and communicate well with inter-departmental personnel and senior staff members.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, accept new ideas and input positively, and be open to new work approaches and processes.
  • Experience in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong focus on operational efficiency while delivering best in class service.
  • A background in the consumer packaged goods/sporting goods industries
  • Knowledge and usage of ERP systems. Experience with Infor/Lawson M3 is a plus.
